Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Also known as Abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin, and in some cases restores weakened or separated muscles. This creates an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.
A full tummy tuck requires a horizontal incision in the area between the pubic hairline and navel. Incision size is largely dependent on the amount of excess skin to be removed. Where correction is isolated to the area below the navel, a limited or mini tummy tuck with a shorter incision at the pubic bone may be recommended.
Liposuction may be performed with a mini tummy tuck where excess fat is the only factor.

Procedure
The incision
A full tummy tuck requires a horizontally-oriented incision in the area between the pubic hairline and navel. The shape and length of the incision will be determined by the degree of correction necessary. Through this incision, weakened abdominal muscles are repaired and sutured and excess fat, tissue and skin is removed. A second incision around the navel may be necessary to relocate the navel in its position.
Duration of Surgery: 2-3 hrs

Results and Recovery
Tummy tuck results in a flatter, firmer abdominal contour that is more proportionate with an individual body type and weight. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect. The final results may be initially obscured by swelling and your inability to stand fully upright until internal healing is complete.
Activities:
You will be able to perform routine activities within 1-2 weeks. Strenuous excercises such as jogging, swimming can be done after 8-12 weeks.
