Gynaecomastia (Male Breast Reduction Surgery)
Enlarged male breasts, also known as gynaecomastia, can cause emotional discomfort and impair your self confidence. It is a common condition affecting 60-70 percent of males sometime during teenage years. Mostly these breasts are relatively small, regress spontaneously in a couple of years and do not become a cause of concern. Gynaecomastia is a cause of concern when male breasts become too large and start showing through clothing.

Gynaecomastia can be treated by surgical removal of excess tissue. It is performed by excision and/or liposuction. This procedure can include areola reduction.

Incision
Incision For Liposuction alone a small nick is sufficient to remove excess fat. In case Excision is decided upon, generally periareolar, semicicular incision is given.
Procedure:
Gynaecomastia is commonly treated with both liposuction and excision.
Liposuction:
In cases where gynaecomastia is primarily the result of excess fatty tissue, liposuction techniques alone may be used.
Excision:
Excision techniques are recommended where glandular breast tissue or excess skin must be removed to correct gynaecomastia.

Post -Operative Instructions
Results and Recovery:
After surgery, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions and an elastic bandage or support garment may be used to minimize swelling and support your new chest contour as it heals. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.
Activities: You will be able to perform routine activity in 3-4 days and will be allowed to go for strenuous exercises in 3-4 weeks time..
