Dr. Sumita Shankar
has been in practice in AP since 2001. She has had extensive training in both Aesthetic (Cosmetic) and Reconstructive surgery in both India and the Abroad. She is a Carl-Zeiss Fellow. She is registered in Medical Council of India and Andhra Pradesh Medical Council.
Dr. Sumita Shankar has built and developed a private practice and has her clinic at Banjara Hills. In her constant endeavour to excel she attends various national and international conferences. She continues her passion for teaching and learning by organisaing various workshops and taking classes during postgraduate training programs. She is the author of numerous scientific articles and presentations and the co-editor of a Monogram on Soft Tissue Reconstruction.
She is an avid reader and a Swimmer.

Dr. Sumita Shankar is an alumnus of one of the premiere institutes, grants medical college, Mumbai. She completed her masters in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery from Mumbai. She has had extensive training in some of the reputed institutes both India and Abroad. She was awarded International travelling fellowship which she utilised by visiting various centres in USA; Transformation centre, Wisconsin & Manhattan Hospital, New York. She did her fellowship in cosmetic surgery from Barcelona, Spain. She also visited Chang Gung Memorail Hospital Taipei, Taiwan for felloship in Cranio-Facial and Microsurgery. She has numerous interviews and TV shows to her credit. She has released a booklet on Cosmetic Surgery in the local language (Telugu) in collaboration with a health magazine. She has chaired a session in Indian Aesthetic Surgery meetings held at Mumbai. She received Farisch Scholarship for best grades in Anatomy. She worked as a Registrar in Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences after her plastic Surgery Training.

Practice Philosophy
Her practice philosophy is to "do the right thing for the right person at the right time for the right reason". This means working with each patient to choose the most appropriate treatment. This may mean just exploring issues for later or proceeding directly to consideration of cosmetic surgery. She will not offer anything (such as new technology or treatments) until she has full confidence in its value.
She believes in a highly trained staff and ongoing education, so that patients can expect a consistently high quality from both Dr. Sumita Shankar and her staff. The staffs are all specially trained and are integral partners in patient care. Patients are encouraged to communicate with any and all members of the staff to ensure the best possible outcome.
